I think the cartoonist is trying justify for the rebels.It is because,from the source i can see the cartoonist does not support IRA as he is showing the bad side of IRA. However,he is trying to defend for the rebels. It is shown in the source that IRA is the side who is aggressive and the rebels are the side that wants peace. Using bombs would only mean that the IRA would kill people that would not follow the IRA rules and wishes.

ReplyDeleteIn source A, it can be seen that the man which represents the IRA, is strangling the dove which represents Peace. This shows that the IRA does not support Peace and does not want peace to be carried out in their country. Also as seen from the man's glasses, there is a reflection of chaos, this means that they does not what peace and still wants to create more trouble.Source A also at the side, there is a piece of paper, writing "IRA Rebels Threaten More Bombs." This menas that the IRA would not give in to any country that does not follow their rule and would use violence to solve their problem.

ReplyDeleteI can learn that the IRA is destroying peace instead of improving the situation in the country. This can be seen in Source A which shows a cartoon of an IRA officer strangling the bird labelled 'PEACE'. This means that the main objective of the IRA is to prevent any peace that can be brought about in the country from occurring. I can also learn that the IRA would just kill everyone blindly. This can be seen in source A which shows an IRA officer who is wearing a spectacles with massive fire while killing 'peace'. This means that even though sometimes the IRA is holding on or carrying out a good thing, namely the peacefulness of the country, he still thinks of it as an devastating bombing which he needs to destroy. Therefore, peace will still be ruined eventually. The purpose of this source is to discourage the readers from supporting the IRA as it is impossible for the IRA to maintain peace in the country due to the favour of using violence blindly.

I can learn from the source that IRA instead of building peace they killed the peace instead. This can be proven from the source , where a man which represent IRA trying to strangle the bird which is named peace. I can also learn that , IRA thinks that by fighting against another country will bring peace but in fact it only brings more troubles. This can be proven by the words ," IRA rebels threatened more bombs."
The purpose of this source is to encourage the general public to not support IRA ways of bringing peace because it brings war instead of peace.
